Job Description

Ameriprise Financial is looking to add a Manager, Technology Risk to the team! The Manager, Technology Risk is a Second Line of Defense (2LOD) role reporting to the VP, Technology Risk. Responsible for supporting execution of technology and cyber risk oversight activities and ensuring accurate documentation, assessment, and monitoring of risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and credible challenge the first line of defense (1LOD) in their execution of the annual risk self-assessments. Credible challenge is done for both the Technology / Cyber organizations and well as for the enterprise.

  • Support the implementation of Operational Risk Management (ORM) methodology and requirements across assigned business unit, in agreement with the overall ORM framework

  • Support and creditability challenge the first line of defense as they manage and respond to risk events (issues/incidents).

  • Support risk governance forums (prep materials, reporting, follow-ups)

  • Risk Framework and Governance: Support framework execution and control documentation.

  • Support audit readiness and regulatory alignment

  • Risk Monitoring, Challenge, and Reporting: Perform assessments, support RCSA/REV/ROC.

  • Pro-actively identify opportunities and recommend solutions to mitigate current and future technology and cyber risk. Provide expertise for enhancement and implementation of technology policies, standards, controls and metrics.

  • Coach and mentor other team members

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of IT technical and operational processes, and associated risks and controls, IT risk management with a strong emphasis on AI risk management.

  • Technical knowledge of risk management frameworks, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements including, NIST, COBIT, FFIEC, ISO27000, and other relevant IT governance frameworks.

  • Ability to communicate complex information technology risks and issues to non-technical business stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of criticality and implications.

  • Critical thinker and ability to express risk themes from data that will serve to inform and guide leadership decisions and actions.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Strong ability to lead, partner, and influence across all leadership levels.

  • Ability to drive results and meet deadlines to reduce risks.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to work independently.

In-Office Collaboration

Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $100,000 -137,600/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
